Stories like this just make me happy. I recently read in the Buffalo News that the Longaberger company is bringing production of its pottery back from the Middle Kingdom. Longaberger has been making its signature woven baskets in Ohio since 1917. Longaberger originally launched its Woven Traditions Pottery 1992 and the pottery was made by members of our extended American family until 2005, when production was offshored. Well, it’s being made in the U.S. again, and it’s about time if you ask me.
Longaberger recently launched “Project Eagle”, in order to produce an all-U.S.-made line. Longaberger is making pottery in a 300,000 square-foot facility – Longaberger® Pottery Works – located at Niagara Ceramics in Buffalo, New York. 500 workers will be crafting Longaberger pottery. Longaberger CEO Tami Longaberger cut the ribbon at the grand opening ceremony held May 20.
So the next time you are at Starbucks, ask the associate that you would like to be drinking your skinny latte out of a Longaberger cup. Maybe together we can drum up some business for our friends at Longaberger!
