Let there be light!

For me, December has always been about light.  I am a sucker for Christmas lights.  In Bellevue, a city next to Seattle, they have a wonderful tradition, Garden d’Lights.  Held in the Bellevue Botanical Gardens each December, loads of volunteers make glowing flowers out of about ten billion Christmas lights.  This event has to seen to be believed.

For purists, there is nothing as beautiful as the light from a simple candle.  The first of my top ten Made in America holiday gifts for 2011 are wonderful glass candles made by a firm in my hometown of Seattle.  Glassybaby makes some of the hippest and most elegant votives and candles on the planet.  Glassybaby candles and glasses are made by hand by their team of glassblowers.  Each glassybaby is unique with its own name.  Glassybaby donates 10% of the price of its “drinkers” to charity.  Visit their website and I am convinced that you too will conclude that glassybaby candles and glasses are very cool and a great holiday gift made by members of our extended American family right here in Seattle.  Cheers!
