I have been married to my wife for going on twenty years. To say she is often cold is an understatement. I think we probably spend as much on heating oil each winter as we spend on food for the entire year. My wife has been known to pack a sweater for a trip to Hawaii. So warm clothing is a frequent gift item in the Briggs household.
With that in mind, the second of my top ten Made in America holiday gifts for 2011 is Filson’s beautiful Women’s Wool Timber Jacket. Filson has been making superlative outdoor wear in my hometown of Seattle since 1897, cutting its teeth providing clothing to miners heading up to the Yukon Gold Rush. I featured Filson in an earlier post.
Filson’s Women’s Wool Timber Jacket comes in a choice of four colors: black, brown, charcoal and grey. Made by Filson in the U.S. from 24-oz. 100% virgin Mackinaw Wool, the Wool Timber Jacket is long enough in the back to snuff out any icy blasts that might come your beloved’s way. The Wool Timber Jacket has six pockets: two lower cargo pockets with snap flap closures, two hand warmer pockets behind the lower cargo pockets and two upper cargo pockets with snap flap closures. The ability to have a customized fit with the Wool Timber Jacket is provided by adjustable back tabs as well as adjustable snap cuffs.
The Filson Women’s Wool Timber Jacket is an American classic. Giving this beautiful, fashionable and functional jacket to your wife, mum or sister will make them very happy this year and for many years in the future. And you will know that its purchase provided employment for members of your extended American family that just happen to work in my home town of Seattle. So get shopping!
