It ain’t rocket science!

Buying American is easy.  I read a lot of articles on the subject and I am forever seeing comments such as “I can’t find anything made in this country!”  Well, those people aren’t looking very hard or they haven’t visited my blog.  Look on my blog roll for the list of Made in America websites and then visit them.  You can find American made examples of virtually any product you might want.  But to get the pump primed, I am going to start a new weekly feature titled “three for the week.”  Each week I will give you three Made in American options for things we use everyday.  So let’s get started.

Laundry Baskets

We must have ten laundry baskets in our household.  The biggest struggle is getting my teenage son Ben to actually take the stuff out of the laundry basket and put it away in his chest of drawers.  There are several Made in America laundry baskets to choose.

Sterilite

Target

Batteries

Who doesn’t need batteries?  Everything I have uses them: the myriad of remote controls I have, flashlights, and the new wireless mouse I just bought.  There are lots of batteries made in the U.S.

Ace Hardware brand

Duracell

Energizer

Computer Paper

There is a lot of U.S. made computer paper available.  The Office Depot premium multipurpose paper is made in the U.S.as is Hammermill’s Premium Multipurpose.

Now that wasn’t so hard was it?  Three things you use everyday, and all of them manufactured by members of our extended American family.  Now get shopping!

  1. Pete from Baltimore says:

As someone that works in construction, i would basicly agree with you. Power tools made in America are hard to find[though Milwaukee makes the best Sawzalls. And still makes them in America]. But most hand tools, such as wrenches, hammers, pry bars, chisels, ect, are still made in America. There are imported hand tools. But they really arent that much cheaper in price. And they dont even come close to comparing in quality. I paid around $30 for my 28oz Estwing hammer. And i use it for demolition work. And ive used it for over 16 years now.And i have no doubt that it will last longer than i will. Its basicly indestructable.

And all of my chisels are made by Baltimore Toolworks/Mayhew , in Baltimore. The small factory is only about 5 miles from my house. And thier chisels are about as cheap in price as the imported chisels.Yet some people just grab an imported chisel at Home Depot because the import is 30 cents cheaper

I own my own interior demolition company. And i tell all of my new employees, that they dont have to carry an Estwing hammer. But if they want a raise, they had better carry one at work. Its not just patriotism. Its the fact that someone that brings a made in China dollar store hammer to work, isnt taking the job seriously. I can always tell which new employees will do well. the ones that already own an Estwing always do well
