It’s in the bag

Being the casual kind of guy I am, most of the bags I have featured on the blog have been of a casual style:  Tom Bihn and Red Oxx come to mind.  But what if you want more formal leather briefcases and luggage?  Are any of those types of bags made by members of our extended American family you ask?  Well yes they are.

Jack Georges

Founded in 1987 by Jack Georges, Jack Georges, Inc. produces several Made in the U.S. collections at its facility in Passaic, N.J.  Jack Georges bags and luggage are hand crafted and carry a lifetime warranty.  My two favorite pieces are the University Collection #2452 Single gusset flap over w/wood dowel & turnlock

and the Platinum Special Edition #8414 Single gusset flap w/open back pocket

Ghurka

Ghurka was founded in Connecticut in 1975 by designer and adventurer Marley Hodgson.  My favorite bags are the Commuter No.559

and the Cavalier I No. 96

Glaser Designs

Glaser bags are made in San Francisco.  They are very beautiful.  My favorites are the Flattop

and the Day Bag

 Mulholland

Mulholland is a company located in Berkley, CA.  Two of their collections consist of pieces made in their own facility in California.  My favorites are the Angler

and the Locomotive
