Growing up, I used to love making models. Model planes, model tanks, you name it. But I never really used to like making model ships. Two weeks ago, my buddy sent me the link to the story of Mr. Philip Warren, who for more than 60 years has been making model ships out of match sticks and wooden matchboxes. He has crafted 432 naval vessels, mostly Royal Navy vessels but also 60 American Navy ships. I could barely assemble plastic model planes and this guy crafts the most amazing model ships you will ever see from scratch. People are amazing. For normal modelers, what really makes a model special is often its paint job. Luckily, probably some of the best paint for models is manufactured by an American firm, Testors paint company. Testors makes their paint at their manufacturing facility in Rockford, Illinois. Testors makes an amazing range of paints for models. If you need to paint models of WWII German Panzers, Testors has a paint for that task. I encourage you to visit the Testors’ site if you or your child is getting into modeling. I have very fond memories of building models with my Dad. Modeling is a great shared activity for the family.
