Your own dog is always the best dog ever.  So it is with our wonderful dog Buddy.  Buddy is a thirteen year old Chocolate Labrador.  Buddy is not surprisingly an American, as opposed to an English, Labrador.  He is a constant source of joy in our home.  Sadly, we had to put down our other dog Emma last year.  So we are considering getting a new dog pal for Buddy.  The dogs we are considering in no particular order are:

Another Lab:  Not much explanation needed here.

English Bulldog:

Pluses:Hilarious appearance.  Cool snarfully noise they make.  Jaunty gait.

Negatives:  Breathing problems (hence noise noted above), don’t live very long.

Shiba Inu

Pluses:  Very cool looking.  Smart

Negatives:  Not very cuddly.

What ever dog we get it will probably be a puppy and puppies are notorious chewers.  Luckily Mary left a comment the other day about a Made in America chew toy GoughNuts that are allegedly close to indestructible.  I will have a few waiting for our new puppy when he arrives!

  1. We are Shiba owners. Our Shiba is cuddly but you are right the breed is not typically cuddly. Good luck on your puppy search.
