I haven’t been talking about the book much lately, but I am still working on getting it finished. The lion’s share of the book discusses great products made by American firms and the stories of the members of our extended Family that make those products. I am making my first road trip to meet with these family members this September. I will visit Allen Edmonds in Port Washington, Wisconsin as well as Wigwam socks in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Finally, I will be visiting the Hart Schaffner Marx plant in Des Plaines, Illinois. My base of operations will be Chicago, where I will be staying with my brother-in-law Mark Bernoski.
I plan to do short videos for each of my extended family reunions and will of course post them on the blog. I will keep you posted on other firms that I may add as the departure date approaches.
I think in Chicago, there is Oxxford Clothing, the factory, and Oak Street Bootmakers, just off the magnificent mile. -Jack A
