Take Mr. Bond to school!

Ok, so the title of this post doesn’t really have too much to do with the substance of this post, but I always liked that line from Dr. No.

What I really wanted to do was to alert you to what I think are two interesting studies.  The first study discusses reshoring and the factors that are thankfully leading a lot of firms to bring their manufacturing operations back to our shores.

The second study discusses productivity gains in the U.S. manufacturing sector.  The author’s thesis is that such gains are badly skewed by extraordinary productivity gains in only one industry: computers.

I found both studies valuable reads in order to understand a lot of the arguments being bandied about regarding the state of U.S. manufacturing and what can be done to improve it.
