Surf’s up!

I grew up in California in the 1960’s, the heyday of surfing.

But I never learned to surf.

I used to like to body surf, but I could never get the hang of standing on a board.

Surfing is just one of a multitude of activities that I simply have never engaged in.

But I have always admired the balance and skill surfers exhibit.

If you are a surfer and you want to buy an American made surfboard to engage in this very American sport, have I got the board for you!

Turtle Surfboards are hand-made by Tom Salinsky in lives, surfs and builds surfboards in Florida.  Tom’s boards are as amazing as are his ethics.  Tom sponsors 4th and 5th grade students so they can attend a SEA CAMP in the Florida Keys where they will surf, snorkel and study ocean ecology and the conservation of ocean habitats. Tom and Turtle Surfboards are also big supporters of the Caribbean Turtle Conservancy.  And Tom made a tragedy for one of our returning heroes a little easier to bear.  Thomas Counihan lost his foot defending our country in Afghanistan.  Before going to Afghanistan, he was a big surfer and when Tom Salinsky heard about Thomas’ plight, he built Thomas a Turtle Surfboard for free!

Turtle Surfboards come in four standard models, the Traveler, the Porgy, the Porgy II and the Surgeon.  Tom also hand crafts custom boards.

I like Tom’s Turtle board,

and the blue wave board.

So if you are in the market for a new surfboard, I encourage you to visit Turtle Surfboard’s website and find the board that is right for you.  Or talk to Tom about having him make you your one of a kind board.

Give Mervin Manufacturing (LIb Tech) some credit too. This homegrown company has been prospering along building snowboards and skis for over 10 years here in Washington. They have done so while sticking by their principles and in the face of every other competitor moving offshore. High quality products and everyone who owns them is proud. Now waterboards, a whole new lineup, which makes total sense because there is saltwater pumping in the arteries of every person involved with this company.
